Pilates - Pilates

Body Awareness Studios offers group Pilates training at all levels. Beginners can feel confident that they are learning to move correctly, build strength and stability, and establish a strong foundation for movement allowing them to advance at an individual rate. There are five levels of classes, for both Mat Pilates and Reformer Apparatus Pilates.

Pilates

Highly trained, certified Instructors will listen to the beginner Students and assist them by offering support and guidance in reaching their fitness goals. Private Classes are highly recommended for new students and are available by appointment. To find the appropriate place to get started, please review the class descriptions. Experienced Pilates practitioners new to our studio may choose any of the Mat classes, or attend a Basic or Intermediate Reformer Class.

Mat Pilates

  • Mat Pilates are exercises performed on the floor, sometimes using props, designed to introduce the principles of Pilates step-by-step, allowing students to progress safely and effectively.

     
  • Classes build core strength, correct postural imbalances, increase body awareness, and enhance your knowledge of Pilates.

Reformer Apparatus Pilates

  • Reformer Apparatus classes introduce the Pilates exercises on the Reformer and the Cadillac, the equipment designed and made popular by Joseph H. Pilates.

     
  • To get started, Body Awareness Studios offers Fundamental and private Reformer classes.

Fundamental Classes

  • Fundamental classes are a great starting place for beginners. These classes introduce the Principles of Pilates and develop a foundation for proper movement.

Basic Classes

  • Basic classes build upon the principles learned in Fundamentals and take Pilates to the next level, introducing more beginning Pilates exercises.

Basic/Intermediate Classes

  • Basic/Intermediate Classes are dynamic classes that challenge participants. These classes serve as preparation for Intermediate level classes and include a mixture of both basic and intermediate Pilates exercises.

Intermediate Classes

  • Intermediate classes are the next level of Pilates challenge. These classes are fast-paced, where one exercise flows into the next, creating a truly energetic workout.

Advanced Classes

  • Advanced classes are the most rigorous of all the Pilates challenges and are for the experienced Pilates practitioner only. These classes are composed of complex exercises that require a high level of Pilates mastery.

Private Classes

  • Private sessions are highly recommended for the first time Pilates student, especially those who are recovering from injury or illness. In a private session, you will work one-on-one with an experienced, certified instructor to assess your individual needs and create a personalized Pilates program to help you reach your fitness goals.

     
  • Semi-private sessions are also available. In these classes you and up to three friends will work with an experienced instructor to learn the fundamentals of Pilates and progress through the exercises as a team. It is strongly recommended that semi-private partners have similar health and fitness backgrounds.
